Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English Literature. Mitchell began as an TV reporter and radio reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) which was based within Washington DC. She then became a Washington general correspondent of NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began to report on the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for the congressional section. When she joined NBC News in 1992, Mitchell became the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell has appeared on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. She was on the panel during the debates for president in 1988, between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a broad range of notable stories, including the Iran-contra scandal and tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan in numerous visits for world summits and wrote frequently.
